A Request Fulfilled

I posted some pictures of the UFO's I have completed recently and someone asked me if I would have any close up photos, so here they are.
The photography is not so great, but here is one of them.

Last one.

Well I am giving it another try.

Why Is It???

Why is it that every time I plan to post something specific and I mention it in a post it seems that life gets in the way and I take way too long to get it done. I have so many things going right now that I am behind again. I should get caught up with the sewing today and then maybe tomorrow I can get back to the things I want to do. LOL I know selfish of me I guess but I want to make this work and I can't if I am always doing things for someone else. Such is life.

Thanks for comments about the cradle, I know that the girl we made it for will cherish it and pass it on to her children when the time comes. Like someone said mine has been used for the three girls I had after I got it. I know at least one of them if not all of them will want to use it for there own children when the time comes.
Well, have a very quilty day and I will be back as soon as I can.

Cradle Update

Well, the shower has come and gone and I thought I might show you the pictures of the complete Cradle my hubby made. Thought I might show  just a few of the things I made to go with it too. We had fun making all of it and I hope he will make one for our daughters when they need them, but at least one of them may have to use the one she was in as a baby. LOL He enjoyed making this but said it would be along time before he made another on. Seemed to take too long to paint more than anything.

UFO's completed

How are you all doing? I have been busy and I have much to do this week. My hubby is off to see his Dad and take care of some stuff at his sisters house, so I am home alone this evening. My girls who still live at home have gone off to see their little sister and her hubby, so they could go swimming.
I went to a baby shower this afternoon, it was the second one in so many weeks. I could have been invited to a couple of others this month. One was today, but other than Facebook I have lost touch with them. I think it will be a busy summer in the hospitals for baby births.
I got an email from my oldest daughter this week, they will be stopping in to see us while they are moving across country this summer. So I won't be mailing the quilts to my granddaughters after all. They have been in process for at least three years. It is feeling good to start seeing some of my older UFO's getting completed. So here are some pictures of the two newest ones.

Well, now that I have them posted I see that the pictures didn't turn out so good, I guess I will need to get some better pic's before they come and take them away.
Have a quilty week.

Differnt Areas Of the Country

I have been looking at random websites of Quilt stores, in different parts of the US. In looking through them I noticed that they have some patterns that are common. However there are those that are not and I wonder if they are published locally and sold the same way. Do some of you publish your own patterns and sell them through your local quilt stores? Is that the way Amy Butler got started? I am not asking any one to answer these questions, but if you have any answers they would be appreciated. I think I may just do my own publishing and see if any of the local stores will buy them. Hmmm something to add to the list of things to think about.
Have a quilty weekend.

Long Time Out

Hi there, I have been out and about and in and working hard. Therefore I have not been here to post. We had a lovely visit with my cousin from Louisiana and her new husband and her son. Along with this we had a visit from my Aunt and her hubby and daughter and granddaughter from the Dallas area. They came Mother's Day weekend and stayed another couple of days. We did more shopping over those few days than I have done in the last year. My mom did get me some new clothes for a late birthday gift so I guess it was worth it. I also made application for a job while I was shopping at one of the stores. I have not heard from them, but in the process i have updated my resume and it is ready if any other jobs come up. I would rather make my craft my business, but I don't think my husband will let it stand at that.
I also spent a couple of days in the sewing room and got the samples for my sewing camps this summer made. The day I was going to take them in to the store for display the boss called an told me one of the patterns had been discontinued. Therefore I will have to make a new sample, with a different pattern. That will have to wait because I am working on the sheets and mattress pad and blankets for the cradle. That will go out tomorrow and then it will be back to the hand quilting job I am working on.
I went to a conference last night and signed up for a three day one in June. It was a great one, and I look forward to the longer one. I had to give up a part of date night to go and it was worth it.  I met my hubby at the local Applebee's which is were we always go for our weekly date night. We have become good friends with many of the wait staff as well as the management. The cradle in the earlier post is actually for one of the bartenders we have known for many years now. I made pillowcases for the current one and his girlfriend. They are big Cowboys fans so this is what I did for them.
Made them king size,I didn't have a pattern so just got one of mine off the bed and used it for measurements.
Off for the day, Hope you are all working hard on your favorite quilting or crafting project.
Happy quilty week,

working things out

Well, I still have not had a chance to get the photos done so I can post them, but I do have one I want to show you. My hubby is working on a cradle for one of our lovely bartenders. We spend date night at the same place every week. Since we do we have gotten to know the people there very well. So one of the bartenders has started working days, since the baby is due in June. We miss her but we do love the new one too. Anyway I wanted to let you see his work, so here is a picture of him and the cradle in progress.
Now we are a little further along so I will show this one too.

So today I found the perfect piece of chenille and I got some brown binding to use on it. We know it is a girl, and the pink is the color she is using. So as part of the cradle we go with the lovely pink.
I have to go for now and maybe I will finally get some quilt pictures taken and posted soon. We have cousins coming in to town this week for the weekend, so it may be next week, but soon.
Have a quilty weekend and lovely Mothers Day all the mothers out there.
