Work done

I have worked today on the class I am writing and it is 2/3 complete in the quilting and piecing. You see the class is a piece as you go and that is what I am doing. It is looking very cute and I am kind of happy with it. I have not got as much of the writing done as I wanted to. The thing is I have so much to do before I leave for the trip next Tue. night. I want to have both of the granddaughters quilts quilted and the class quilt complete and the two throws edges finished too. I also gave a bag away last week that I had made for my granddaughters friend, so I have to remake it. I also know that I have promised you all I would get the tutorial done for the paper piecing. I hate to admit that I may not get that done before I leave on my vacation. I am very sorry to have gotten so close to putting in on here and it didn't work. I hope to get more organized when I return and if that happens I will post much more often and it will have much more content. Maybe we can make a quilt.
Have a quilty time.

I just got this from Thimbleberries

I just got this in my email, from my Thimbleberries Newsletter, and I wanted it to be available when I wanted it and not have to memorize it. If you can use it too that will be great. I do lots of designing myself so it is good to have this information.

Half-sizing squares
Example One:
• If your cut size is 4-1/2", subtract the (2) seam allowances (1/4" each side)
4-1/2" minus 1/2" equals 4"... divide that in half which equals 2",
then add the (2) seam allowances back on...2" plus 1/2" equals 2-1/2" which is your new cut size

Example Two:
• If your cut size is 1-1/2", subtract the (2) seam allowances (1/4" each side)
1-1/2" minus 1/2" equals 1"... divide that in half which equals 1/2",
then add the (2) seam allowances back on...1/2" plus 1/2" equals 1" which is your new cut size

Half-sizing triangle-pieced squares
Example One:
• If your cut size is 6-7/8", subtract 7/8".
6-7/8" minus 7/8" equals 6"... divide that in half which equals 3",
then add the 7/8" back on... 3" plus 7/8" equals 3-7/8" which is your new cut size

Example Two:
• If your cut size is 7-7/8", subtract 7/8".
7-7/8" minus 7/8" equals 7"... divide that in half which equals 3-1/2",
then add the 7/8" back on... 3-1/2" plus 7/8" equals 4-3/8" which is your new cut size

Have more quilts in your life.

A Quick Update

Thank you for your prayers, and your well wishes. My mom is home from the hospital and doing well enough. She had a CT scan today and they found that she is no longer bleeding in the brain, however she does still have some swelling. I am pretty sure she is still having the headaches because of that. She is to see a Cardiologist in the next week and then she is to have an office visit with a Neurologist. She tried to make an appointment for that today and the number she got was not working, so we will try again tomorrow. The bruises are so much less than I had thought they would be, I am very happy for that. She is looking pretty good. She does find a sore spot once in a while, she didn't have before and I guess she will for another day or two.

I have some exciting news to share though. I got a call on Fri. and I will be hand quilting a quilt for a lady to use as a  gift at her relatives wedding. This is a quilt top that was made by her mother or grandmother. It is a double wedding ring pattern ,done in thirties fabrics. I am probably only a day from completing my class that I am writing on quilt as you go. That will be a relief to get done and off to the head of the website where it will be offered.I will post photos of the quilt soon.
Have a quilty week

Life does interfere

Well, my mom called yesterday and asked me if I would like to go to the half price book store with her. We usually find a good supply of books and she gets me a new quilt book once in a while so I said sure. Well, when we got there she got out of the car and I did too. I looked down at the remote to lick her car and I heard a thud. It was my mother as she hit the ground. She was not conscious when I got to her. She has had an inter cranial hematoma, and the hospital the ,ems took her to does not have a trama unit therefore not neurologist on call. So they moved her the a hospital in Austin. The CT scan this morning showed it is dissolving and the neurologist said they were through with her, but the Family practice Dr. said he would feel better if she stayed in the hospital another day of two. She is still having a very bad headache, but seems good other wise. I am just exhausted and want to sew and work, but can't concentrate. Guess I will go to the hospital and sit with her instead.
Have a quilting week.

I will , I will, I will

I will get organized enough to start to write in the blog at least one or two times a week. I will get organized enough to finish my work and do the things I need too, and make a showing in the field I am working on .
I had a great sewing class this week, and I started the class I am writing for the Quilting Weekly website. I must admit that teaching three adults and two 6 or 7 year old girls is a challenge but i think all went away happy and having learned. I do wish I had more control over the classes. I love to teach others to sew and quilt.
Have a Quilty week.
