Class Oooppps

Well, I am still working on the class. I have for what ever reason come up against a wall in trying to write the next  or first class. I seem to have lost some of the pictures, and the actual quilt too. That is a sad thing to have to admit. I did a lot of cleaning things up before the holidays. Now my son is coming again next weekend. I have to keep the sewing room clean to make sure there is room for the beds. I am afraid to start digging through the boxes and make a mess. Besides if I do that I may find things I want to make more than the ones I am working on. That would be bad since I still have to finish the lizard quilt. I have not worked on anything today. I have a bug and it started about 1 this morning and I got very little sleep. Needless to say I napped some today, or should I say a lot.
Well, be sure to check back tomorrow when we will have the special posting I was asked to join other bloggers and write.
Until then have a very quilty night.

Just to let you know

Well, it has appeared that I am not posting, and for all intents and purposes I guess I have not. However, I have two posts in the qua for future posts. I have been asked to do a special post on the first and I have it written and ready to just hit the Publish post button. In the mean time I would like to say that I know I started a set of classes and I have not finished writing them so I have not posted the actual first class. I am working on them though and as soon as the second class is completed I will post class one. I hope you will enjoy the classes. I enjoyed the process of making the quilt when I made it last year.
I have to say I am really having fun with the idea of getting our scraps under control. I have made a few things and I have some others in my head, and I am even starting to draw them off so I can make them. I truly think all of you will have so much fun when I start showing you the things I am making.
So until the time comes, have a quilty weekend,

Quilt As You Go

Well, I decided to give this class to you for a short time. I will be posting each lesson for you. At the end of the month in which I post the last class, I will delete these posts. I want to offer it for sale at that point in a PDF format, that is if I can do that without having to buy the Adobe software. LOL This is the introduction. Enjoy and have a quilty day.

Welcome, I love this process and have been using it for many years. It seems that some would think it was developed as a way of quilting on the sewing machine, however, that is not the case. You see our fore Mothers had as much need for this method as we do. When traveling across the country in a covered wagon it was impossible to use the traditional quilt frame that took up the entire living room of a house, which in those days was often the only room of the house. In order to have adequate bedding many women would piece and quilt on the way to the new home at the end of the wagon trail. Sometimes a mother would send with her beloved daughter the squares she had made and give her a quick lesson in quilting before the wagon train left. Knowing that it might be the last time she would ever see her child. She would want there to be something to remember her by and what better thing than a quilt for the family bed.
There are many different methods of this process and I hope to cover as many as we can in the limitations of one wall hanging. I have three books on this subject and have read all of them from cover to cover. I had been quilting for about six years when I became intrigued by the idea of doing my own quilting on the machine. Or even better being able to hand quilt on a bed size quilt while I was traveling or waiting for guitar lessons to be over. Even in the Dr.’s office while waiting for the Dr. or while waiting for a child to have a dental procedure done. It just seemed to me that the potential was limitless for accomplishing a finished quilt without being tied to the house and the sewing room. If you are as excited as I am then we should get started.

Fabric requirements:
Cat fabric- four fat quarters (I chose colors of the cats in my life, you can choose what ever you like or all the same color)
Backgroud-1 yard
Backing -1 ½ yard
Batting – crib size or large scraps

Wednesday Again

Good evening to you all. I have had a hard day today. My youngest daughter and her new husband have been here for a visit since early Fri. morning and today they left to go back home. I wanted to spend the day in the sewing room today, but I was crying so often I thought it would be better not to. So tomorrow I will get up early and put the last load of linens in the dryer an off the the machine I will go.
I burned my had pretty badly the first of last week and I had a very greasy goo on it. There fore I chose not to try and work with fabric. I have found all the patterns for the UFO I am working on this month. I may have to buy some fabric to make those missing blocks, and the colors of the fabrics are not going to be terribly easy to find. I will find them though I am sure. When I do I will take many photos and post them. I am looking forward to the finished project.
I keep saying it will be done soon, but this time it really will. The lizard quilt will be finished very soon. I will be back as soon as I can. Until then have a very quilty week.

I Did It Again

Well, have you ever just had a few minutes ,so you jump on the computer and log in to post a blog. Then you see someone you really like has posted, so you just zip over there and read the post. Then you see the next one and well it looks interesting so you read, that. Then you suddenly look up and realize you have been reading blogs for an hour. Well, what ever, you just keep on reading and enjoy the afternoon. hahaha well that is what happened to me today, now this is not the first time it has happened and I am sure it will again. I do love reading the blogs I follow, and sometimes I find a new one to follow from reading the ones I already follow.
In the mean time I have been so depressed this week that I can't seem to force myself to get into the sewing room. I do not have a reason for this depression, it just seems to slip up on me once in a while. When it does I find myself playing games on the computer and reading a book. Today it is cold, and yesterday it was too. I seem to be suffering from icy feet. So today I have been trying to kick myself in the butt and get moving. I did a couple of loads of laundry, and I have kept the fire going. Sadly it is getting cold now so I guess I have let the fire dye down. Oh!!! yea, my daughter just noticed the same thing and is stoking the fire for me.
I have to say I did go to the fabric store today, I was supposed to have a class this morning, but again no one signed up for it. My hubby asked me to get some fabric to make him a table runner for the entry way table. Now I have another project and he will not be happy if I don't get in there very soon and get his made.  I took my  mom's sweatshirt ,that I am working on with me, to show off while I was at the store. I felt better for going there even if I now feel pressure to make another thing, when I am already behind.
So I am back to my goofing off and I hope you all are off to having a very quilty day.

Wanted to Post

Hi, I wanted to post, but I waited too late in the day and now I am too tired and don't have anything to say. So I just posted to let you know I am still here and working on some alterations for a friend. I have gotten out the challenge months quilt, and started looking it over. Still missing 6 of the blocks and can't find them. LOL
Got the lizard quilt almost into a top. It won't take long to quilt once it is a top. So like I said, I am too tired so I am off to bed. I will try and get some photos on tomorrow and post again.
Have a quilty day,

Happy New Years 2011 and UFO Challenge

Hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season this year and a blessed time with family and friends. I know we have all had a good time here. Our daughter and her husband work for the Marriott Corp. so we decided to spend New Years Eve at one of the local hotels. We had a great time swimming in the indoor pool and using the hot tub. Our girls got a room as well and invited some friends to join us. We had a good time and then had the worst nights sleep ever. LOL The beds were hard and none of us slept very well. I for one fell asleep quickly and then woke up in a very short time to the laughing and talk of the people in the next room. That went on for hours and I could not get back to sleep. I finally went to sleep about 6 or 6:30 that morning. We slept until about 10, and then we got up. The girls got up about the same time and came to make sure we were up. They even brought me a second cup of coffee. A very nice gesture since we only had two cups in our little packet they leave in the rooms. Then off we all went to have a nice breakfast at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Then we came home and just spent the day watching TV and hanging out with each other. I took naps off and on through out the day. We had out regular New Years black eyed peas and cornbread with Ham for dinner. The only thing we missed was having some cabbage. That is part of our tradition, but we forgot to get any. Needless to say we took a nice hot bath and went to bed early.
Today I got up very late, because I finally got to sleep last night and I really crashed. We are watching Christmas movies today and just enjoying each other. I have spent the last couple of hours reading and catching up on the blogs I follow. So now for my quilting over the last few weeks. I did not get to finish mothers quilted sweat shirt jacket, however I did get it almost done. I have the front two pieces and the sleeves quilted and ready to put back together. I just need to do the back this week and it will be put back together and given to her to enjoy for the winter. I would have gotten it made probably if I had not spent the afternoon and evening in the ER with my dad two days before Christmas. He got out Christmas day, and then on Tue. we ended up back in the Er with what seemed to me like heart attack symptoms. They ended up sending him home after watching him for a few hours.
Hubby's boss requested I make her a baby blanket to take to her niece in Puerta Rico. Then after I got the stuff to make it she decided she would like the name embroidered on it. I had a horrible time working on the fabric she requested. I have used minke on other quilts but only small squares, never as a backing. That stuff is the slickest slippery stuff I have ever used.
I have to say you may have noticed I said blanket and not quilt. She didn't want any batting, just backing and fabric. I used my machine to quilt it, even without batting. It did not turn out looking like I would have wanted but she is happy with it and that is what counts. I will turn down that kind of jobs in the future. I spent time on it that I needed to spend on the quilt I am working on. I did need the money I made, even though it was not much. So I guess I won't say I won't do it again. I would, if the time was right and I was asked.
Okay back to the blogs I read and follow. I am sad that many of them have either stopped blogging or just disappeared from their blogs. I found that many have not written since Sept., June, or later. I wonder if I can unfollow them, just to clean up my list.
Next for the new year is the UFO Challenge I told you about in Dec. I am trying to figure out how to add my list to the side bar of my blog for the year. Until then I am posting it here;
1 Pink Hearts

2 Purple dorm quilt

3 Pink and Brown BOM

4 Purple Birthday exchange

5 Christmas Exchange Blocks

6 Sun Bonnet Sue and Overall Bill Exchange

7 Purple Pansies BOM

8 Blue Bonnet BOM

9 Pink Christmas

10 Blue Strawberries
The lovely lady doing the challenge has already posted the number for this month  and it is 3. So for this month I will be working on the pink and brown BOM quilt that I started several years ago. I actually bought two blocks each month, because the blocks are pretty small, and I wanted it to be a good sized quilt. I have about 10 of them made, now and I will need to get some fabric for sashing and backing. This will be fun and challenging, but a good way to commit to getting some of my UFO's completed and maybe even keep me from starting any new ones until there is more room in my sewing room. After all stash busting is my goal.
Next week we start making some dents in our lovely scraps.
Here are some photos too. This is what I have been doing, not only on my holiday, but also this month.

The quilt I made in Dec.

I added some patches to a jacket for my son while he was here visiting.

This is the blanket I made and it is on its way out of the country. Have a very quilty week and I will be back as soon as I can.
