Got Word

Well, I got word today from the last lady that she has received her block I am so happy. She is happy too. I know I promised you I would do the tutorial for paper piecing but I have been feeling pretty rotten all week and we are going out of town tomorrow. We won't be back until Tue. so maybe by then I will feel better and be able to concentrate and do the job.
Have a great quilting weekend.

Sunbonnet Gal

Well, I have finally finished all the blocks as I told you last time and this one is very exciting to me. I love the Sun bonnet Sue patterns and when I was growing up my Aunt had one that was a colonial girls in pinks and yellows. It was the quilt I used for nap time until I was too old for a nap and I kind of felt like it was mine. Needless to say my cousin had other thoughts when we were adults. LOL I always thought I might try to make one myself and duplicate hers, but I didn't know how to applique and that was a big problem. Well, as I have said before I decided to make the Birthday Block exchange a way of challenging myself to learn something new and use blocks that I had never made before. So all of this is to say this is my crowning glory I think. I love it and I hope that she will too when she gets it.
So until next time yall have a quilting week.

New Block Done

Well, I have finally completed the last of my birthday blocks from 2009 and will get the last one in the mail soon so that is will reach the one it is made for. I feel very bad that it is so long in the making and yet I am more proud of this one than of any other ones I have made. I have taken the pictures but have not gotten them on the computer yet when I do I will share. I made the Birthday Exchange an experience in challenging myself with the blocks I was to send. This last one was the one I most dreaded doing as I decided to make the Sun Bonnet Sue the lady had hopes of receiving for her blocks. I do not do applique and have over time built up such a fear of it. I thought I would never learn to do it at all, and I do not do much hand work these days unless it is to quilt by hand. So I chose to do this by machine instead of by hand. I am very pleased with the results and I hope she is too.
I am sorry my paper piecing has not been posted, but I have not had the time to do it again. I will maybe try to do it tomorrow since it is Sat. and I won't feel like it is a work day.
I am pretty excited , today I made a deal with my Mom and I have the ability to get on ETSY and see what will sell. I am in hopes of setting it up tomorrow too. I started the process months ago, but I was missing a required item that I didn't have. Now I have that item and I can complete the application and set up my shop. I will invite you to visit me there once it is set up completely.
Thanks for visitng me again and have a wonderful quilting experience today.

Soup is on

Well, I decided to see what we could do about some soup since the You Can Make it Monday's theme was Soup Recipes and I wanted to try several of them. Well, it made me want soup and since we have had more winter this year than we have had in many years. So I will try some of them, however in the mean time I think you might like my favorite recipe for Potato Soup. So I am going to share it with you today and maybe tomorrow I will be able to get that tutorial done.
Potato Soup

2 carrots, chopped                                      1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 onion, chopped                                     1 T. parsley
1 stick celery, diced                                    1 T. salt
8 med. potoatoes, diced                              5 C. water
4 chicken bouillon cubes                               1(12 oz.) can evaporated milk

Cook al the ingredients in a crock pot on low for 8 hours or on the stove for 1 hour on low, covered. Makes about 10 servings.

We usually make a big pan of cornbread to eat with ours and top it with grated cheese.
I hope you try this and enjoy it as much as my family does.

I tried

Well, I have worked for over an hour to post a tutorial on paper piecing, but what has happened to keep it from being here now??? I am not sure but it had something to do with the HTML. I don't know if I can fix it, or if I want to try and do it again. Right now I am just crazy feeling hahaha well not really but frustrated at least.
The weather here has finally started to get better, we have had so much rain and bad weather lately we almost forgot what the sun looked like. It has been nice to see it though.
Hope your computers don't give you as much trouble as mine has.
Have a quilty week.

Oh How I Wish

Oh how I wish I had time to ask for your help. I am working on a quilt that is past due and I have it almost ready to quilt which because it is a small quilt won't take too long, but still I must get it done by tomorrow and in the mail. I did a challenging project for this small quilt as well as finish a UFO from maybe as much as 10 years ago, I am not sure. Any way the thing I wish you could help me with is the borders. I plan to use the fabrics in the quilt for two of the borders, but wanted to use one next to the body of the quilt to break up the colors. What color to use though??? I have thought of using the lovely blue in some of the flowers, but then there is the much darker color of pink that would be nice too, or the lovely rich goldish yellow. I will make that decision after lunch today and then finish the quilt and do the quilting, so I won't have time for your suggestions. I do wish that I had that time though. Here are the photos of the small quilt I am working on.
Have a quilty week and I will be back on soon with a new feature of my blog.
